Recharageable battery that operates at extreme
temperatures
Long lasting, high energy density operating at extreme
temperatures

Finally, a rechargeable battery for defense and industry

The Whole Earth Battery features a radically new battery chemistry operable over the unprecedented temperature range of −80℃ to +80℃ with high energy density (>400 Wh/kg,>1200 Wh/L), inviolably safe (nonflammable, less reactive than lithium-ion), and domestically sourced. With its wide operating temperature range, this rechargeable thionyl halide battery efficiently stores electricity for lunar applications and allowing satellites to orbit the Earth for years.

Safe at extreme temperatures

Targeted for use in applications that operate at extreme temperatures, such as on the moon and for satellites that fly above 30,000 feet, the core cell chemistry is a variant of metal – thionyl halide  where the metal can be sodium, aluminum, or magnesium.
